Failed Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy recently faced a significant legal setback when an Ohio judge rejected his attempt to dismiss a lawsuit alleging unauthorized prerecorded calls. U.S. District Judge Michael Watson from the Southern District of Ohio ruled against Ramaswamy, stating that the court had already considered and dismissed his legal arguments at the pleadings stage.

Ramaswamy, who had vied for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination before endorsing Donald Trump in January, is embroiled in legal action brought by New Hampshire resident Thomas Grant. Grant claims Ramaswamy’s campaign made mass robocalls to private numbers without prior consent, in violation of the Prerecorded No Consent Class regulations. He is seeking $1,500 in damages for each of the eight unauthorized calls he received between July and October 2023.

The calls reportedly began with an introduction from Ramaswamy’s campaign, inviting recipients to join a “teleforum town hall” and subsequently played a prerecorded message from Ramaswamy asking for votes.
